Cozy, stylish, and chef-driven without feeling stuffy. Expect seasonal plates, good cocktails, and a local-favorite feel.

2. Casual Eats & Family-Friendly Spots
Food Castle – Halal Pakistani and Indian restaurant coming to the former Tank’s Bar & Grill space on Wayne Avenue.
Biryani, curries, kebabs, and grilled specialties – comfort food if you love spice and flavor, and a fun “let’s order a bunch of things and share” spot.
Mudlick Tap House (Centerville) – Second location of the popular downtown gastropub, at 110 W. Franklin St. in downtown Centerville.
Comfort food, big salads, sandwiches and a strong beer list – but now on the south side. Easy go-to for after-work meetups and casual weekends.

3. Coffee, Brunch & Sweet Treats
Little Bear – Brunch-focused restaurant in the Dietz Block building in the Oregon District from the Wheat Penny team.

7 Brew Coffee – Drive-thru specialty coffee stands in Beavercreek (N. Fairfield Rd) and planned near Wright State on Colonel Glenn Hwy.
Energy-drink style drinks, flavored coffees, shakes and a pull-through format. Fast, fun, and highly caffeinated.
Good Hands Bread Co. – Artisan bakery in the historic Dietz Block building on Wayne Avenue.
Sourdough, pretzels and serious bread. If you bake, you’ll appreciate the craft. If you don’t, you’ll just be happy this exists.
Bootleg Bagels – Micro-bakery from Yellow Springs adding a Dayton storefront on Wayne Avenue.
Classic boiled-and-baked bagels, breakfast sandwiches and coffee. Perfect for Saturday mornings or grab-and-go on your way to showings and kids’ activities.

Custom cakes plus cupcakes and sweets – one to remember for birthdays, showers and celebrations.
4. Breweries, Bars & Airport Dining
Warped Wing Brewery (Dayton International Airport) – Local craft brewery adding an airport taproom.
Now you can introduce out-of-town guests to Dayton beer before they even leave the terminal. Or grab a pint yourself before you fly out.
Buckeye Pie Pizza – New fast-casual pizza option at Dayton International Airport.
Quick slices and whole pies for travelers who want something familiar and easy.
The 1903 – Aviation-themed restaurant replacing the 12th Fairway at the airport.
A nod to the Wright brothers and local history, with sit-down meals for longer layovers or pre-flight dinners.
Gem City Provisions – Grab-and-go concept at Dayton International Airport.
Snacks, drinks, and quick bites for flights – not exactly “date night,” but absolutely useful when you travel.
5. Recreation & Experiences
PickleRage – Indoor/outdoor pickleball club in the Normandy Shopping Center on Miamisburg-Centerville Rd (Centerville / Washington Township).
Multiple courts, leagues and a pro shop. If you’ve been saying, “We should try pickleball,” this makes it very easy.
6. Specialty Retail & Makers
Nook & Needle – Dedicated cross-stitch boutique in the North Arcade at the Dayton Arcade.
Patterns, kits, tools and books for stitchers. If you’re crafty – or shopping for someone who is – save this one.
Blind Rage Records – Punk and hardcore-focused vinyl record store on E. Fifth St. in the Oregon District.
Vinyl, merch and a niche music community vibe. If you love digging through crates, this is your spot.
7. Dayton Arcade & Wayne Avenue Clusters
A couple of these projects create real “clusters” – areas where you can park once and hit several spots:
-
Dayton Arcade / North Arcade: Luke’s Custom Cakes, Nook & Needle and other small shops turning the Arcade into a fun afternoon wander.
-
Dietz Block / Wayne Avenue corridor: Little Bear, Good Hands Bread Co., Bootleg Bagels and Agnes give this stretch a strong “foodie row” feeling.
For anyone moving to the area (or just exploring new neighborhoods), these pockets are worth circling on your mental map.
The short version: Dayton and its surrounding suburbs are quietly stacking up a very solid list of new places to eat, drink, shop and play.
If you’re already local, use this as a checklist the next time you say, “We never know where to go.”
If you’re relocating to the Dayton area and want to land in a neighborhood that fits your lifestyle – close to walkable eats, coffee, or easy highway access – that’s where my team comes in. We live here, we work here, and we’re watching these openings just like you.
