The Book Fair Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to collecting donated books year-round for its annual Book Fair, recognized as Ohio's largest second-hand book sale. This year's event is scheduled for November 8-10, 2024, at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds, located at 645 Infirmary Rd. Attendees will have the opportunity to browse through over 75 categories of books, as well as records, CDs, DVDs, puzzles, games, and more. Proceeds from the sale will benefit several local nonprofits in Dayton, including the Bach Society of Dayton, The Beaver Creek Wetlands Association, and Have A Gay Day.

Details: Centerville-Washington History will host “What's the Story: Soldiers' War Memories” presented by Ken Serey on Tuesday, November 19, at 7 p.m. The event will take place at the theater inside RecPlex West, located at 965 Miamisburg-Centerville Rd in Centerville.

This presentation, titled ‘WHAT’S THE STORY?’, features a collection of first-hand accounts from Ohio veterans who served during World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. Attendees will hear remarkable stories from veterans, including the first soldier to land on Omaha Beach, detailed accounts from a member of the 101st Airborne during the Battle of the Bulge, and a pilot’s experience of the firebombing of Japan.

Other stories include treasures discovered at Hitler’s Eagle’s Nest hideaway, a Merchant Marine's survival of a torpedo attack, and a soldier's incredible encounter with a Panzer tank. The program will also touch on the experiences of German POW camps in Ohio.
